Since 1991, Women Build volunteers from all walks of life have come together to build stronger, safer communities. This year, Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning Valley has themed Women Build around the idea that every woman is a Wonder Woman!

Women and children are the most likely to be affected by poor living conditions. Women Build provides the opportunity for women to take a proactive step in serving their communities and to giving each other a hand-up. Women Build also gives women the tools needed to be self-empowered!

No experience is necessary to participate – Volunteers work under the guidance of construction professionals, and alongside other volunteers and future homeowners.

Of course, there are more ways to participate in Wonder Women Build than the construction site! Below is more information about volunteering on the construction site as well as other events and activities.

To make Wonder Women Build a success, we need your help! This year, Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning Valley would like to provide t-shirts, goodie bags, and lunches to all volunteers. If you are interested in being a sponsor by providing a cash, material or lunch donation, please contact the Resource Development Manager at 330-743-7244 x 303.

During Women Build, Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning Valley will recognize women in the community who have used their superpowers to better our community; who have shown perseverance; and who have stood out from the rest. They are truly Wonder Women!

Are men able to participate?  Yes! Women Build provides a place for women to learn the skills needed to build a home, but that does not exclude men from participating.

How does Habitat empower women?  Our goal with Women Build is to empower women to help families build strength, stability and independence. Habitat provides opportunities for hands-on learning, and given these tools, women can succeed in changing their communities.

Remember, anyone can volunteer and Habitat provides all the tools and safety equipment. Volunteers will be taught on-site what they will need to know to help build a home! To learn more about volunteering with Habitat, visit our Volunteer page.
